About the Photographer:

Pepe Cañabate (Palma, 1953) is a self-taught photographer based in Palma, known for his mastery of the art of black and white photography. His specialization in this style led him to set up his own professional laboratory, a space where he perfected every detail of the development. With the arrival of the digital age, Pepe adapted without losing his essence, and today he combines his experience in post-production, printing and digital editing to create images that retain the same depth of his analog work.

His passion for photography goes beyond commercial and remains faithful to his style, alien to passing fads. In each work, Pepe is present from the first click to the final editing, in a careful and detailed creative process that turns each piece into a complete and personal work, made to be appreciated in its entirety.

Throughout his career, Pepe *Cañabate has presented his work in multiple solo and group exhibitions, both in galleries in Spain and in Europe and the United States. From his first shows in the 80s, with exhibitions in spaces such as *Factory in Palma and the Bernard Gallery in Germany, to more recent shows such as “*NIGHTPOL” at *igallery (2022), his work has captured the attention and esteem of a wide and diverse audience. He has participated in prestigious group exhibitions, such as *PhotoEspaña and the “*Chania *International Photo Festival” in Greece, standing out both on the local and international scene.

His awards and recognitions reflect his commitment to quality photography. Among his awards, he has received multiple honorable mentions at the Lucie Awards in Los Angeles, in addition to being a finalist and winner in competitions such as the Ciutat de Palma and the Tokyo International Foto Awards. These achievements consolidate his prestige, highlighting him not only for his technical skill but also for his ability to create images that explore both aesthetics and emotion.
