Every trip, with the camera as my faithful companion, gives me the opportunity to stop, to absorb every corner around me, to capture that moment in an image that tells its own story. It is a way to soak up the moment, to isolate myself from the noise and connect deeply with what I feel.
That state of “being here and now” is something that many artists share; it is an experience that we pour into our works, regardless of the discipline we follow.
About Joana Dueñas
As far back as I can remember, photography has been my language to express the world. As a child, I immersed myself in visual art through my mother’s old Contax, discovering a fascinating universe in monochrome tones. Photography is my tool of creativity, my way of connecting with the beauty that surrounds us.
Ibiza, an island that has been my home for more than 30 years, is the perfect backdrop for my inspiration. Here I find the harmony between nature, faces and landscapes that feed my artistic passion. Traveling with my camera has become an extension of my life, taking my lens to discover every corner of the world.
Throughout my career, I have received international recognition, including the FIAP Gold Medal at SFD Illa de Menorca (2019, 2023), awards and mentions in competitions such as the Siena International Photo Awards, Thrierenberg Super Circuit, and the Trofeu Torretes, as well as publications in prestigious editions such as the Thrierenberg yearbook and its deluxe edition book. These achievements reflect my commitment to photography and my passion for capturing the essence of nature and landscape in all its forms.
The 1X platform has also been a showcase for my achievements, with 343 images published and 112 awarded, as well as collaborations with important stock libraries such as Getty Images and Stocksy.
